FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of organisations do you typically work with?
SakurAlp works primarily with startups, SMEs, scale-ups, and innovation-oriented institutions that face complex strategic decisions.
Most organisations we support are navigating:
- innovation initiatives that require prioritisation,
- AI-related questions at leadership level,
- cross-border collaboration between Switzerland and Japan,
- or ecosystem-based partnerships.
The common factor is not size, but the need for structured thinking before committing resources.
We are not a tech company. Is AI still relevant for us?
In many cases yes, but not automatically.
AI is relevant when it supports strategic priorities, improves decision-making, or strengthens operations. It is not a goal in itself.
Our role is to help leadership teams assess:
- whether AI is meaningful in their specific context,
- which use cases are realistic,
- and what governance or risk considerations must be addressed.
For some organisations, clarity also means deciding not to pursue certain initiatives.
How is your Immersion Program different from other missions?
The programme is designed as a structured field immersion in Japan rather than a promotion tour.
Instead of maximising the number of meetings, the focus is on target visits and contextual understanding:
- how trust is built,
- how decisions are made,
- how expectations are shaped in Japanese business environments.
Strategic framing before the trip and structured reflection afterward ensure that insights translate into informed next steps.
What happens after a programme or workshop?
Every intervention includes a structured debrief or synthesis phase.
The objective is to translate insights into:
- clarified strategic options,
- defined next steps,
- or follow-up actions where relevant.
In some cases, collaboration continues. In others, the organisation proceeds independently with clearer direction.
How is SakurAlp different from a traditional consulting firm?
SakurAlp operates as a strategic advisory rather than an implementation consultancy. The focus is on improving decision quality, clarifying options, trade-offs, risks, and alignment before execution begins.
We do not deliver large-scale transformation programmes or predefined solutions. However, when implementation becomes relevant, we can recommend suitable partners from our network or support the identification of appropriate providers.
Our role is to help leadership teams structure complex choices so that subsequent actions are deliberate, coherent, and well-aligned.
How do you integrate ESG principles into innovation initiatives?
Innovation without risk awareness can create long-term vulnerability.
Together with an industrial cybersecurity partner, SakurAlp integrates governance, data protection, and risk considerations early in the process, not as an afterthought.
This ensures that strategic decisions remain sustainable, compliant, and aligned with organisational responsibility.
Is the Japan programme limited to specific industries?
No.
While sector-specific editions (such as health and biopharma) may be organised when relevant, the core structure of the programme is industry-agnostic.
It is designed for organisations that want to approach Japan with seriousness and preparation, regardless of sector.
When is SakurAlp not the right fit?
SakurAlp may not be the right fit if you are looking for:
- ready-made solutions without strategic reflection,
- high-volume contact brokerage,
- or rapid execution without alignment at leadership level.
The work is most effective when organisations are willing to engage in structured thinking before acting.
